A FRIEND OF MANY YEARS VISITS EMC

Last Monday, Augusts 17, the Staff and the participants to the Euntes long course welcomed in their midst Fr. Akira Nakagawa, a Japanese priest, who arrived in Zamboanga City and stayed for a few days, a welcome guest, at our Center.

 Father Akira has been coming to visit the Euntes every year for the past fifteen years. He explained the purpose of his visit in his homily as he celebrated the Eucharist on Thursday, August 20.

BISHOP PETER HLA VISITS EMC

Bishop Peter Hla, the young Bishop of the Diocese of  Pekon in Myanmar, was the welcome guest to our Euntes community on Monday, August 17. Bishop Hla was one of the 117 Asian Bishops who attended the 9th Plenary Assembly of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) in Manila the past week. SHIFTING PARADIGMS: Personal Reflection

I have now been here at the Euntes Mission Center in Zamboanga City for more than a month. I have been through Orientation Day with the Euntes staff, offering me the Gospel invitation to “Come and See”.

The following day I joined the Euntes community on an exposure trip to Basilan Island where we visited, among other things, a Badjaos community. Led by Father Angel Calvo, CFM, we were helped to Experiencing God In Margins.

BIBLICAL FOUNDATION OF MISSION

After listening to Father Edgar Xavier, SVD, on the module on ‘Mission Today’ and learning all about mission today being essentially crossing borders and frontiers reaching out in dialogue with other religions and cultures, we needed to know the Biblical Foundation of our mission.
